I've noticed that about 90% of my shots are framed vertically. Maybe it's because I'm vertically challenged so I like to see things the long ways? I really haven't a clue why my eye prefers this, but I forced myself to shoot more horizontally. I liked the results!
Vertical. The horizontal puts too much emphasis on the out of focus family.

Vertical looks good because you have the vertical elements of the trees and the parents. Horizontal might look better if you could get the basket in with its horizontal lines.
